Week of March 04, 2024
appy Sunday Hawk Families!
I wanted to say thank you to all the families who were able to support our Blacktop Assembly on Friday and give a moment of silence in honor of Ms. Barragan. We want to honor her family during this time of mourning and when they are ready to share the details of her funeral, we will pass that along. We would will also be creating a space at our school in remembrance of Ms. Barragan for all that she has given our students, families, colleagues, and community. Again, we want to respect her family’s wishes and will do this when they are ready to give us their blessing to move forward.
We have 2 weeks left in school until we get into Spring Break. Parent/Student conferences start this coming Thursday, 03/07/2024. Please keep an eye out for messaging from your student’s teacher to sign up for parent/student conference dates/times.
Thank you to all the families who purchased tickets to our annual PTO Family Dance. In order to allow our school an opportunity to grieve the PTO has tentatively moved the family dance to Friday, April 5th. More information to follow in the coming weeks. If you are no longer available, please email or come see our PTO in person for a refund.
Mints… We need mints for testing. If you are willing and able to donate a bag of mints we could use them for our statewide testing coming up.
Again, thank you for your support this past week. We hope that you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Sincerely,
DR & JG

ATTENDANCE & CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM
Please make sure that your children/students are coming to school and are on time. We’ve had an increase in tardies and absences, which can have a negative impact on their learning and on families who are on Zone Transfers. CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM is when a student is absent for 10% or more of the school year. It impacts students ability to form strong relationships with peers, impacts students ability to perform well academically, and can create poor habits that are hard to break. CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM is created by both excused and unexcused absences. Please communicate with the office if your family expects to take time off (3 days or more) from school so that we can support you with an Independent Contract while you are away. By doing this your student(s) will not be marked absent. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Please see see below for when to call in sick and when to keep your student at home.
LOKO Bean Cafe on Campus 03/11/2024 from 6:30-8:30am. Pre-order by texting (619) 342-5727
