Principal Report

Week of January 22, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy Sunday Hawks!! This week is a busy week full of speech contest preparations! I wish all the contestants the best of luck!

Safety Notice… As you all know Heritage is a Closed Campus during school hours and all visitors must sign in to be able to access the interior of our school. As a new safety measure, ALL CVESD schools are being directed to begin a single entry/exit area after-school hours as well. This includes all the after school YMCA and LEAD Programs beginning on Monday, 01/22/24. All students and parents will need to check in/out their students at the gate next to the Auditorium and the YMCA room after 3:30pm. All other gates will be closed and locked by 3:00pm for the safety of all students. All students who are not in LEAD Programs, YMCA, DASH, or on the Soccer Team will need to exit the school grounds by 2:30pm. I sincerely, appreciate your understanding in this matter. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at (619) 421-7080.

Tips for Parents:

ATTENDANCE & CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM

Please make sure that your children/students are coming to school and are on time. We’ve had an increase in tardies and absences, which can have a negative impact on their learning and on families who are on Zone Transfers. CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM is when a student is absent for 10% or more of the school year. It impacts students ability to form strong relationships with peers, impacts students ability to perform well academically, and can create poor habits that are hard to break. CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM is created by both excused and unexcused absences. Please communicate with the office if your family expects to take time off (3 days or more) from school so that we can support you with an Independent Contract while you are away. By doing this your student(s) will not be marked absent. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Please see see below for when to call in sick and when to keep your student at home. .
